Everybody wants the highlight reel from a CEO. The fumbles are the useful part.

I chased revenue before profit. I discounted when I got scared. I read the numbers monthly instead of weekly. I spent money where the customer never looked. Each one cost me, and each one taught me the same thing: growth and profit are not the same, and speed and discipline are where the margin actually hides.

You do not have to be brilliant. You have to stop doing the dumb thing twice.
